Bodies of two more missing tourists found in Almaty Mountains

Search and rescue operations in the Medeu district of Almaty have concluded, Qazinform News Agency reports citing the Emergencies Ministry of Kazakhstan.
Rescuers found the bodies of two people near Lokomotiv Peak at an altitude of about 3,700 meters. Earlier, another member of the same group had been found dead. In total, three people died in the incident.
An operational headquarters was set up near the Mynzhylky dam after the initial report. The search involved units of the Almaty Emergencies Department, the Republican Rescue Service, police, the Mountaineering Federation, and volunteers. A helicopter was also deployed for search efforts.
Around 80 personnel, 12 vehicles, 4 canine teams, and 4 drones took part in the rescue efforts.

Three people were killed and two others injured after a vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver struck pedestrians in the city of Arys.
According to the Police Department of the Turkistan Region, the driver of a JAC vehicle, who was under the influence of alcohol, hit several people before fleeing the scene.
Three people, including two minors, died at the scene. Two other victims were taken to hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
The suspect was identified, detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
A criminal investigation has been launched into the incident, and investigative procedures are ongoing.
According to media reports, the victims were sitting on a bench near a residential building when the vehicle struck them. Reports also said that the deceased woman was pregnant.

Earthquake Felt in Zhetysu Region and Almaty

Residents of Kazakhstan's Zhetysu Region and the city of Almaty felt earthquake tremors on the evening of June 4, according to the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The earthquake was recorded by seismologists at 9:19 p.m. Astana time.
According to the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research under the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the epicenter was located within Kazakhstan, 316 kilometers northeast of Almaty. The earthquake originated at a depth of 30 kilometers.
The strongest tremors, reaching an estimated intensity of 4 points on the MSK-64 scale, were recorded in the city of Zharkent in the Panfilov District of the Zhetysu Region.
Tremors of up to 3 points were felt in Sarkand, Zhansugurov, Tekeli, Karabulak and several other settlements.
In Almaty, Taldykorgan, Konaev, Talgar, Yesik, Usharal and a number of other localities, the estimated intensity did not exceed 2 points.
No reports of casualties or damage have been received.

Carousel and Haunted House Destroyed in Fire at Atyrau Amusement Park

A fire broke out at an amusement park in the Avangard district of Atyrau during the night of June 3, destroying a carousel and a wooden haunted house attraction, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
The first firefighting crews to arrive at the scene found both structures fully engulfed in flames. Fire officials said the blaze spread rapidly due to the high fire load created by the large amount of combustible materials used in the facilities.
Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and brought the blaze under control within a short time.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Four tick-borne encephalitis cases recorded in Akmola region

Since the start of the epidemic season, more than 500 people suffered tick bites in Akmola region, Qazinform News Agency cites the sanitary and epidemiological control department.
532 tick bite cases were registered in the region, including 144 among children under 14.
425 people received preventive immunoglobulin treatment; 107 did not, due to late medical visits, contraindications, refusal, or bites in non-endemic areas.
The highest number of bites was reported in Kokshetau up to 155, 149 in Burabay district, and 85 in Sandyktau district.
Four confirmed cases of tick-borne encephalitis were detected in the region.
A 17-year-old student from Sandyktau district is in intensive care with a severe condition after removing a tick himself and not seeking medical help promptly.
Sandyktau district is considered endemic for tick-borne encephalitis. Annual anti-tick treatments are carried out by sanitary services.
The region has supplies of immunoglobulin for emergency post-bite treatment and vaccines for at-risk groups.

Earthquake felt in Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region

Residents of Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region experienced earthquake tremors on Monday morning after seismic activity was recorded near the Bayanaul area, according to the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Qazinform News Agency reports.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 11:28 a.m. local time on May 26. Tremors were reportedly felt by residents in the city of Ekibastuz.
Officials stated that the seismic station network operated by the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research detected the earthquake. The epicenter was located about 855 kilometers northwest of Almaty within Pavlodar region.
Authorities reported that the earthquake originated at a depth of 30 kilometers, with coordinates registered at 50.47° north latitude and 76.47° east longitude. The estimated shaking intensity in Bayanaul village reached 2 points on the seismic scale.
An operational headquarters has been established by the Pavlodar region department of emergency situations to monitor developments and coordinate response measures.
No casualties or structural damage have been reported so far, and public infrastructure and essential services are continuing to function normally. Emergency officials also announced the opening of a hotline.
